Nearby Lake Jackson, though smaller than the twin lakes of Oconee and Sinclair is still large enough at 4700 acres to provide opportunities for water-sports and lots of fishing. It was originally designed to provide electricity for Macon. All three of the lakes are manmade reservoirs, generating electricity for Georgia Power. The youngest of the reservoirs is Lake Oconee.
